HS code reference lookup
Enter a code (e.g. 8518 or 8518.30.20.00) or an English product name to see official schedule descriptions and the code hierarchy; when one description matches several candidate classifications they are all listed for you or your broker to weigh against product specifics.
A reference lookup is not a customs classification ruling. Duty rates shown are U.S. import rates only — they are not your destination country’s rates.
Digits (with or without dots) search by code prefix; words search English official descriptions. The dataset is English-only — Chinese terms get an explicit notice rather than a guess.

What this data covers — and what it does not
- International layer: HS chapters 01–97 with 4-digit headings and 6-digit subheadings (HS 2022 edition) — the part shared by every member country’s tariff schedule.
- US layer: 8-digit rate lines and 10-digit statistical suffixes of the US HTS, clearly badged; the duty columns are US import rates for reference only.
- China layer: PRC 2026 tariff schedule 8-digit lines with official Chinese names and MFN/ordinary rates, matched to international rows by shared HS6 prefix; provisional (△), agreement, quota, VAT/consumption and 10-digit customs numbers are not in scope.
- Not included: the EU’s 8-digit CN codes, other countries’ national extensions, WCO Explanatory Notes, and US chapters 98/99 (national legislation).
- Descriptions are English-only. Classification of a real product needs the General Rules of Interpretation plus material, composition, use and processing details — treat every result as a candidate, not a ruling.

Frequently asked
Can I declare with the code I find here?
No — this is a reference lookup. Candidate codes, official descriptions and hierarchy are informational, not a customs classification ruling. Formal classification applies the General Rules of Interpretation to material, composition, use and processing; ask your customs authority for a binding ruling when needed.
Why does one product name return several codes?
That's normal. The same description appears at different levels (heading/subheading/statistical suffix) and under different chapters — cotton, for example, lives in the yarn, fabric and apparel chapters alike. The tool lists every candidate instead of guessing one answer for you.
Whose 8- and 10-digit codes are these?
The international Harmonized System only standardizes the first six digits (2-digit chapter + 4-digit heading + 6-digit subheading). The 8/10-digit codes here are US HTS national extensions and are labelled as such; China uses an 8-digit tariff schedule and the EU an 8-digit CN code — neither is in this dataset.
Are the duty rates shown what I'd pay importing to my country?
No. The rate columns are US import duty (General MFN / Special preferential / Column 2) — they apply to imports into the United States and are shown for reference only. Check the official tariff service of your destination country for actual rates.
How does Chinese search work?
Chinese terms are matched verbatim against the official Chinese product names in the PRC 2026 tariff schedule — no machine translation, no guessed codes. Colloquial names may miss; try a more formal name or English.
How fresh is the data?
The snapshot is the USITC's 2026 HTS Revision 22 (effective 2026-10-30); the page always shows the release and its effective date and warns when the snapshot grows stale. Use the official live service for filings.
