Singapore plug types & voltage — adapters, 100–240V devices and local sockets

Singapore uses UK-style Type G three-pin sockets at 230 V/50 Hz; outlets are switched, and Type C Euro plugs are accommodated in some installations.

Type G dominates at 230 V/50 Hz.

From China — your plugs vs local sockets

Adapter Some devices need an adapter. Buy: an adapter to Type G, or a universal adapter.
Voltage 220 V → 230 V: close enough — no transformer needed.
Frequency 50 Hz → 50 Hz: nothing to worry about.

On the ground

Uniform island-wide; legacy Type M outlets survive only in very old buildings — nothing to plan for.

What to pack

None of the Chinese plug types fit — a Type G (or universal) adapter is required. At 230 V, close to China's, no transformer is needed.

Type G sockets are earthed and fused — just use a certified adapter with safety shutters.

Wide-voltage (INPUT 100–240V) chargers and power bricks work anywhere; single-voltage heating appliances (hairdryers, kettles) need a transformer when voltages differ. Country data cannot certify a device — check the nameplate.
