Malaysia plug types & voltage — adapters, 100–240V devices and local sockets
Malaysia primarily uses UK-style Type G sockets; the nominal voltage is now 230 V (older references still say 240 V), at 50 Hz.
Sockets & supply
Legacy sockets still around: A/M type
Type G dominates; nominal voltage is now 230 V (some references still say 240 V).
From China — your plugs vs local sockets
On the ground
Malaysia primarily uses UK-style Type G sockets; the nominal voltage is now 230 V (older references still say 240 V), at 50 Hz.
230 V/50 Hz nationwide; some power strips accept Europlug Type C, and legacy outlets linger in rural areas.
What to pack
Bring a Type G or universal adapter; voltage is close enough to China's that no transformer is needed.
Use adapters with safety shutters; earthing practices follow the UK standard.
Wide-voltage (INPUT 100–240V) chargers and power bricks work anywhere; single-voltage heating appliances (hairdryers, kettles) need a transformer when voltages differ. Country data cannot certify a device — check the nameplate.
