Apple's iPhone X went on sale nine years ago today, November 3, 2017. The 10th-anniversary iPhone was the first with an all-screen OLED display and no Home button, and its gesture navigation and Face ID authentication shaped the flagship iPhone models that followed it.

Announced on September 12, 2017 , the iPhone X used its TrueDepth camera to introduce Face ID, which replaced Touch ID on the device. Powered by the A11 Bionic chip, it was also Apple's first iPhone to start at $999.

Apple classified the device as vintage in 2024 . Recently, Touch ID made an unlikely return to iPhones with the iPhone Duo.

Apple is expected to introduce a redesigned 20th-anniversary iPhone in late 2027. This article, " Apple Released the iPhone X Nine Years Ago Today " first appeared on MacRumors.com
